Discovery, exploration and support for parents and their infants!
Parenting is one of the most challenging yet rewarding commitments you can make in life, and your path as a parent changes significantly as your child grows.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to know there is a community waiting to help guide and support you?!
There is! Montessori Academy’s Parent & Infant program supports new parents right from the start. We offer weekly sessions for two different age categories – children ages 2 to 10 months (‘Infants’ program) or children ages 10 to 18 months (‘Movers’ program) – because we recognize that both parents and children in these two age groupings have very different needs.
The parent and child sessions run for 8 weeks, and will be offered three times each year starting in October 2025.
Each Parent & Infant class will invite the caregiver to connect with their child, the teachers, as well as the other families, in a welcoming and compassionate environment. Like the rest of the programs at Montessori Academy, this work supporting London area families is grounded in our values of respect, curiosity, Montessori and community.
We are the only Montessori Canada-accredited school in the London area, and have been providing children with learning experiences that inspire compassion and a love of learning for more than 55 years. Our Parent & Infant program gives new parents and caregivers a taste of Montessori, providing activities and education that support your infant’s development.

Meet the team

Tara Protopapas, Lead facilitator
Tara is a seasoned Montessori educator, having served in the Montessori community for over two decades. Tara is passionate about Montessori philosophy and methodology as an aid to life from the very start. She began her Montessori journey training at Montessori Academy of London, and has held various positions in both our Toddler and Casa programs.
Having received her Montessori Early Childhood Diploma at the Casa level from Toronto Montessori Institute, Tara has assisted other schools in developing Infant, Toddler and Casa environments. She is dedicated to best practices in the growth and development of young children, learning the R.I.E. method (Resource to Infant Educarers) and continuing to research and grow as an educator. A true Montessori mom with two boys raised and educated in Montessori philosophy, Tara considers it a great privilege to develop relationships with parents, supporting them in their journeys to educate and nurture their children and families.
She is excited to work with families in our Parent & Infant program — it is the resource she wishes existed when she was a new mom.

Tina Brown, Executive Director
Tina believes that Montessori grads are the change makers in the world, which is why she profoundly trusts the method of education and strives to ensure its influence continues to grow in London. She has been a part of Montessori Academy since 2001 and took on the role of Executive Director in July 2017. Tina holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree (Child Studies major) from the University of Guelph and AMI training from the Foundation for Montessori Education at the Casa level, as well as experience teaching in the Casa program for many years. She is an alumni parent of a child who started in our Toddler program, and is thrilled to channel all of these experiences to support and guide new parents on their journey through Montessori Academy’s new Parent & Infant Program.
In partnership with Gather Montessori.
